This classic species has a spectacular wide peristome. There are both lowland and highland varieties which are markedly different in appearance, in general the highland varieties have wider more colorful pitchers. This is a cross between two seed-raised highland forms of Nepenthes veitchii often known as the 'Bario squat'.
The female parent is a selected clone of the Bareo form of Nepenthes veitchii with red-striped peristome. The male parent is also the Bareo form of Nepenthes veitchii, with similarly red-striped peristome. We expect these items to be pretty, with a high probability of having red-striped peristomes.
